Last night I went out to see the Reverend Horton Heat and the Swingin Utters at the El Rey theater in Los Angeles. My friend Gregg Utter from the Swingin Utters and Viva Hate put my girlfriend and I on the list and we had a wild and wonderful time. First off I have to show you my ride for the night. It was practically a Monster Truck that you see on those commercials advertising Monster Madness!

The funny part about getting into and out of this truck is considering I recently had my tata’s revised I am not able to do any lifting pulling or pushing. This means I couldn’t pull or lift myself into the cab of the truck! We were all standing there trying to figure out how in the world I was to get in the darn thing! It was quite comedic. Finally my girlfriend suggested I get boosted up by standing on the Monster Truck owner’s knee. Aha! This worked! I trampled all over him in my spiked boot heels while my mini dress lifted up giving quite the tease. It’s pretty far out riding around Hollywood in a truck this size! I felt like we were gonna roll over and squish every car in sight!
Once at the El Rey we arrived just in time as the Swingin Utters went on. I love this band! Then I ran into the adorable Masuimi Max and hung out with her a good part of the night. She looked so sexy with her big blonde hair and bodacious boobs. I ran into old friends and while the Rev was setting up in between bands my girlfriend and I sat down to relieve the pressure on our tootsies. We sandwiched a guy in between us whom I started chatting up. It turns out he was a graphic designer and we ended up talking nerdy computer chit chat the entire time before the Rev started. **Nerd Alert**!!
Oh man, I LOVE Reverend Horton Heat. Once he came on it was like bliss to my ears. I first found out about the Rev at the 1995 Hootenanny with the Cramps that I attended – dressed in latex no less & it was outside in a canyon in 100 degree weather AND in direct sunlight! I learned my lesson at the Hootenanny and that day forward I will only wear cotton and flat shoes. As the Rev played that guitar, Jimbo slapped that bass & Paul pounded those drums it all came back to me why music has been such a huge thing in my life. When I was a teenager I used music as a way to enter a different world, to be taken away… to go somewhere else. It was also a sense of expression. Sometimes in my adult years I loose track of the importance of music in my life and why I have been such a diehard fan of certain bands all these years. Reverend Horton Heat is certainly in this category for me. I was getting into Psychobilly around the time I first saw them play. I went from a major goth to discovering Psychobilly. First it was Johnny Cash, The Cramps and Dwight Yoakam then Reverend Horton Heat and finally The Meteors, Demented Are Go and Mad Sin. Finally I found “my music”. There is something about the guitar licks and the slap of that stand up bass that literally drives me wild. So Friday night at the El Rey I just closed my eyes and reveled in the sound that is home for me.

Once the show was over I was boosted back up into the cab of the truck and we all went to Crazy Girls on La Brea in Hollywood for drinks, lap dances and tipping the hot dancers. Crazy Girls is quite nostalgic because this is the place that started my career in fetish. When I was 17 years old my girlfriend and I were sitting on the steps of Crazy Girls one night because we were too young to get in. Out comes this man named John Stevens who it turns out was an agent for adult models. We started chatting & exchanged phone numbers. The week I turned 18 I was booked solid with bondage and foot fetish photo shoots. This totally carved the path to my future and look at me now, haha.
