F**k it. I need to get away. A few nights ago I was in bed with Eric and I was like…. Let’s go to Thailand & also see the amazing temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia. I hoped onto Orbitz.com … I use Orbitz for all my flights… looked up airfare and bought 2 tickets to Thailand. I wanted to go for a full month as 13 days is way not enough time but I had to schedule around Eric’s gigs. Blah. But next time it will be a month or longer, right? I have been to Thailand only once before back in 1998. I was in Phuket, Phi Phi and Chiang Mai. I am dying to return and this time to see the Angkor Wat temples. I’m not exactly sure how we will get to Siem Reap as the airfare from Bangkok is freaking expensive! It is around $410 for a round trip airfare which is half the price of the ticket from LA to Chiang Mai! Too much! I have been looking up taking a train to the border and then a shared taxi ride into Siem Reap. Lot’s of posts about the road condidtions but I also read that the road into Siem Reap has been repaved and will only take a couple hours from the border of Thailand x Cambodia. I’m choosing Thailand to return to primarily because I have this growing interest in the teachings of Bhuddism, I’m fascinated by letting go of the obsession of material things. With my career… being a fetish model I am constantly having to get new wardrobe in for my photos and video… this is part of my job! I love getting new items in of course but it is part of this capitalistic U.S. society I live in. In the U.S. we are raised to shop! At least I was! Shop shop shop! My mom used to tell me “There is more at the store!” I’m interested in letting go of all of this. I’m pinned down by all my possessions. Ok, but I need all my high heels and eccentric clothing collection… maybe there is a happy medium? There was never a war over the religion of Bhuddism… how could there be since the people are so peaceful. I’m intrigued. I wanted to also go to Bhutan but traveling there is rather expensive and I’d probably need to be on a tour with a group. So over the next few weeks I am making my schedule and dragging Eric everywhere with me. We are flying into Chiang Mai up in the north and flying out of Bangkok. I looked up train routes on the North line and it look like it takes 12 hours to get from Chiang Mai to Bangkok so we will probably end up flying. We might spend some days in the north then onto Bangkok as a stop over before heading to Cambodia. Some days in Siem Reap then back to Bangkok. I’m not sure if we will make it down south to the beaches. I’m more motivated to see the temples and beautiful northern Thailand and Cambodia than to hang out on the beach. Next time when I have at least 3 weeks to a month I will be sure to hit up Ko Samui, Phi Phi and Krabi. I’d love to just go all over the place throughout East Asia. I love traveling so much and haven’t been doing much of it except for work related ventures. When I lived in Japan I traveled all over the place! Of course it was easy since I was already centrally located. I filled up 2 passports with stamps while I lived in Fukuoka. I figure it’s better to get out there and see new things rather than be at home too much… then I don’t have awesome memories for when I’m an old lady. For this trip to Thailand all I am taking is a backpack. That’s it. A backpack with the essentials. Underwear, change of clothes, soap, toothbrush & toothpaste & my Lonely Planet book.
Oh… and another reason for me choosing Thailand is Thai is my favorite food. Eric and I joke that one day we are going to eat our way across Thailand. It’s on!

During my Navy time we went to Phuket and Pattaya many a time – love the place and love the food! Hope you two have ball and a relaxing time.
Darren, from Flesh Rubber (you met hime last time out here to Perth), is moving to Phuket to live at the end of this week. If you do end up down that way, could be worth looking him up.
Darren is MOVING to Phuket! I’m so jealous! Is he moving there for good????!!!!
Yep – he moved there last Friday to live with his Thai Girlfriend. He’ll be in Melbourne in May for Spank and I think he’s coming to the Perth one as well, but his “home” is now Phuket.
I have visited your posts before. The more I read, the more I keep coming back!
